Ios Greece belongs to the Cycladic islands. It is particularly famous for the wonderful beaches, the picturesque village of Chora and certainly the intense nightlife that attracts mostly young crowds. Beach parties start in the midday and last till the early hours in Mylopotas, making it a popular place for teenagers and youth. However, this island is not only for partying. It has great places to relax away from large crowds and noise. The coastline of Ios has wonderful beaches with soft sand and emerald waters. You will also love walking along the narrow paved streets of Chora, one of the most picturesque villages in Cyclades. From the highest spot of Chora, you will enjoy a breathtaking view to the sea. Ios is one of the southern Cyclades islands. The highest mountain is Pirgos 713m height in the center of the island. The warmest months are July and August (average temperature 28C). The weather is mostly cool however due to the northerly wind called Meltemi. And there you are, leaning upon the bulwark gazing at the natural harbor of the Aegean and the second most popular area on the island, Ormos, known as Yialos among locals. At the marina , traditional fish boats are leaving for the open sea in the morning and in the evening, fishermen are coming back with their nets full . Chora right next to Ormos, has a typical Cycladic architecture with the whitewashed houses being in sharp contrast with the blue sky and the winding narrow stone paved streets leading to chapels, windmills, or yards.
